Emily Thicke
Growing up in Tofino, BC, Emily has always been inspired by the rugged natural beauty of the west coast. Her love of flowers began at a young age, firmly believing in flower fairies and that the garden was the best playground. These experiences created a long term love affair with the joy that fresh flowers and nature can bring to any day.
After struggling to grow vegetables in the pacific northwest rainforest, she turned to flowers. The joy of a fresh picked bouquet of flowers from the garden exceeded that of one small carrot, and slowly the backyard was turned into a blossoming flower garden. As an emergency department nurse, playing with flowers and creating beauty with nature was a way to infuse life with lightness. This lifetime of play eventually became an opportunity to be more than that, and Fleur Tofino was born.
Emily has spent time training with florist Darcey Welch of Wildbloom, and has completed Startup with Design through the Vancouver Flower School.
Emily believes there should always be fresh flowers in the house and that paying close attention to the seasonal changes of our natural surroundings will deepen our connection to others and the world around us.
